Newly formed team in Sofia to serve as a global hub for Progress DigitalFactory professional services
Sofia, August 1, 2016 – Global software company Progress (NASDAQ: PRGS) today announced the acquisition of the engineering and services personnel of the Bulgarian-based OneBit Software. Effective August 1 OneBit Software employees are now full-time employees of Progress and are expected to form the nucleus of the new DigitalFactory Center of Excellence, providing professional services to existing and future Progress Sitefinity and DigitalFactory customers worldwide. The team will be based in the Progress Sofia office and OneBit founder, Radi Atanassov will also join Progress, taking on the role of Senior Director, Professional Services.
Succeeding in digital transformation is more than technology implementation, it is a change in business practices. The DigitalFactory professional services group will provide customers the business and technical support necessary to implement their digital transformation strategy in an effective and efficient way. The experts of OneBit Software are well versed in a multitude of technologies including Microsoft SharePoint, ASP.NET, Office 365, Cloud/PaaS deployments and more.
“Sofia continues to be a hotbed of engineering and services talent, as is evident by the entrance of many technology companies into the region,” said Jerry Ruli, Chief Operating Officer, Progress. “The acquisition of the OneBit employee base is not only an affirmation of that talent and our commitment to the Bulgarian market, but puts us in a strategic position to build upon our digital transformation momentum with the establishment of our DigitalFactory services arm, in conjunction with the product development team, also located in our Sofia offices.”
As part of the team acquisition, OneBit Software founder, Radi Atanassov and General Manager Dimiter Kadanoff, are both joining Progress in senior roles within the global Professional Services team. Atanassov, a globally recognized SharePoint and Office365 expert, a Microsoft MVP for six consecutive years and one of very few Microsoft Certified Masters for SharePoint worldwide, will now serve as Senior Director, Professional Services at Progress. Kadanoff, who brings to Progress over 15 years of experience working for some of the biggest technology brands including HP, Microsoft and Fujitsu, will drive the global business development and sales strategy for the DigitalFactory Professional Services under the leadership of Progress VP for Professional Services, John Harlow.
“Progress is without a doubt one of the most respected technology companies in Bulgaria and globally, and we could not be happier to be joining the team at such a unique time in this company’s history. Progress has already undergone such an impressive expansion path into the digital transformation market with more opportunity ahead. Everyone at OneBit Software sees huge momentum and potential not only for the entire product portfolio of Progress, but also the markets we are serving, and we look forward to contributing to future success of the company and our customers,” Radi Atanassov, founder of OneBit Software.
The acquisition of OneBit Software team is another example of the dedication of Progress to the Bulgarian market, following the acquisition of Telerik in December 2014. At that time, the Sofia offices became a key innovation and strategy center for the company. Since then, Progress has expanded the local team by 10% and plans to continue to grow it in furtherance to its commitment to its Sofia operations. The company also recently announced plans for the construction of a new Sofia office to accommodate its rapid expansion in Bulgaria.
